In 2024, we published a set of 10 free careers cards in time for Space Week and they were really popular with schools and families alike. Plus, we really loved creating them, researching, reading and learning so much about the jobs, careers, skills needed and how the jobs interact with each other so we’ve done it again!
Today, we’re delighted to share another set of 10 FREE careers cards, this time linked to the Climate Sector.
This hugely important and growing aspect of the jobs and careers market is vital to a sustainable and bright future for our young people and very likely to be a sector they end up working in or being connected to. This sneak peek into some of the inspiring and emerging roles include Red Squirrel Researchers, Atmospheric Chemists and Urban Rewilding Officers all of whom strive to reduce the impact of human activity and develop better approaches to a healthy future for the planet.
Here at My Science Club, we have always had a sustainable and climate conscious approach to running science clubs and have recently distilled this into a set of 6 key values we hold dear and aim to include within all our packs where practically possible and relevant. These are:
- Giving your science clubbers a voice about issues that matter to them
- Raising awareness of cause and effect
- Enabling informed decision making through science literacy
- Being resource conscious
- Being aware of and empathetic to climate anxiety
- Empowering positive collective action and responsible citizenship

Quick ways to make use of our 10 free climate careers cards:
- Introduce them in a whole school assembly and launch an A-Z competition to fill in the blanks – we’ve done 10 for you!
- Ask your school community if they know anyone locally who works in any of these careers who could share their experiences with your school or setting
- Use the cards each week in your club as a ‘get thinking’ activity at the start. Ask what sort of skills they think that the career or job entails? What other subjects might be useful in that career or job? Can you find out more about where someone in that role might work?
